Taj Mahal (Hindi: ताज महल) is a royal tomb located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. The Mughal emperor Shah Jahan built this magnificent monument in memory of his wife Arjumand Banu Begum, also known as Mumtaz Mahal. Construction of the monument began in 1832 and was completed in about 1853.
While there has been much debate over who designed the monument, it is clear that the monument was built by a group of skilled designers and artisans who were with Ustad Ahmed Lahuri, who is leading the race to become the main designer of the Taj Mahal.
1. Mumtaz Mahal was the third wife of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. Before marriage her name was Arjumand Bano Begum.
2. Mumtaz Mahal died while giving birth to Shahjahan's 14th child.

3. The actual tomb of Mumtaz Mahal contains 99 names of Allah as calligraphic inscriptions.
4. About a thousand elephants were used to move the materials needed to build the Taj Mahal from one place to another.
5. Rumor has it, Shah Jahan wanted to build another Taj Mahal using black marble. However, he could not do so due to enmity with the boys.
6. There is a copy of the Taj Mahal! These are the Bibi Ka Maqbara built in Aurangabad, Maharashtra and the Taj Mahal in Narayanganj, Bangladesh. However, these are not as dazzling as the Taj Mahal in Agra.
